Dr. Kevin Griffin named next principal of Rogers Middle School

Following an extensive search for talent and experience, the Affton School District Board of Education on Tues., Feb. 1, approved the hiring of Dr. Kevin Griffin as Principal for Rogers Middle School for the 2022-2023 school year.

“As a superintendent, I was impressed by the talented individuals that we had the good fortune to consider during our search for the next principal of Rogers Middle School,” said Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent of Affton Schools. “We involved staff, students, and parents in the decision-making process, and I am certain Dr. Griffin’s student-centered mindset will serve our students and school community well. I am excited by his desire for all students to enjoy school every day. In addition, his vision of being approachable, open to discussion and criticism, and his willingness to collaborate with staff will translate into success for our students and families. I welcome his considerable skills and talents to the Affton family.”

Griffin’s experience in school administration includes his role as assistant principal at Fox Middle School in Arnold, Mo., since 2018. In addition, he has served as a secondary summer school coordinator and principal for Fox C-6 School District.

“I’m incredibly excited and humbled to be named the next principal at Rogers Middle School. My goal is to continue to meet the high expectations of the Affton family, while also working collaboratively with the entire community to ensure every student experiences their highest level of success,” said Griffin. “Over the next several months, I plan on taking as many opportunities as I can to get to know the amazing students, staff, parents, and community members that make Affton such an outstanding and unique place to be a part of. In turn, I hope this allows you to better get to know me.”

In addition to his administrative experience, Griffin taught special education and social studies at both the middle school and high school levels for 12 years. Griffin earned a bachelor of science in secondary education from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., a master of science in educational administration at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, Mo., as well as a doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo.

Griffin grew up in Arnold, Mo. and he and his family currently live in Fenton. Dr. Griffin has been married to his wife, Beth, since 2008. They have three kids, 11-year-old Brooke and 9-year-old twins, Collin and Ellie. When he’s not busy running kids to or from an activity or practice, Griffin enjoys the outdoors, woodworking, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Griffin will begin serving as principal at Rogers Middle School on July 1. Also, effective July 1, Dr. Jason Buck, current principal at RMS, will begin serving as the Director of College and Career Readiness for Affton School District.
